Barrhead Health and Care Centre
Main Street, Barrhead
Artworks at the new Barrhead Health and Care Centre.
The main commission includes work in the public realm by Scottish artists Iain Kettles and Susie Hunter which links to further sculpture works throughout the building. A new series of thirty colour photographs by French artist David Zérah were created during a residency in Barrhead. Further artworks were purchased by the curator to create a new collection for the staff, patients and community to enjoy. This includes four etchings by Scottish artist Katy Dove and two collages by young Glasgow School of Art Graduate Mary Wintour. A further three artworks by Mary Wintour can be seen in the corridors of Sandyford, the Clinical Zone and Barrhead Dental Practice. Four works by leading Scottish contemporary artist Jacqueline Donachie are located in the reception of the Barrhead Dental practice. In the staff area there are seven screen prints by Lisa Ure displayed in the glass walk-way which can be seen from the ground and first floor.
The Barrhead Health and Care Centre Arts Strategy was created by Patricia Fleming Projects with support from a dedicated arts team from the local area. The arts strategy aims to position health and well being at the heart of the community and promote the imaginative role that artists can play in the creation of inspiring places.
Barrhead Health and Care Centre is managed by East Renfrewshire Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP), a partnership between NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and East Renfrewshire Council providing health and social care services for the local community.
